" Fly Away "

by Cheryl Lynne

The night they took mom to heaven
Was on the eve of my 58 birthday
A call to me, I knew she was gone
Not knowing how to go on, I went to her
Going to mom one last time
I kissed her foehead then I read
My poems and writtings from my head
Speaking of my love for mom and making a promise
Knowing she was gone before her body
Using her body for a channel to mom above
Talking, kissing, and holding her hand
Telling her I never really was a man
Mom saw and accepted me as her daughter
A daughter to look after her dad
I promised mom I would take care of him
Mom's Angeles took her away flying high
Now mom is our Angel above
